Eagle Project!
About
Thank you for visiting my page. This year I am working on my Eagle Project with Troop 97, in my journey to Eagle Scout rank with the Boy Scouts of America.
For my project, I chose our local food pantry; People to People, which is a wonderful charitable organization that my family has always donated to. People to People runs many amazing programs that serve close to 14,000 families each year.
In addition to their large food pantry, they also have a Clothes Closet that provides much needed clothing to families, through donated items from the community and a Back to School With Dignity program that provides brand new back packs filled with all the needed school supplies to students each summer.
I will be focusing mostly on improving the sorting process for all the donated clothes, and I will be doing this by installing Slat Walls in their sorting room which can hold hooks to help hang, display and organize any clothes or other materials they may need. I will also be installing shelving on/above the slat walls for storage to create more space and organization. I will also be painting the walls in the clothing closet/display room, to make it more inviting and cheerful as well as in their sorting room, which has no windows, to brighten up the room for the hard working volunteers. Finally, I will be replacing their worn-out wooden ramp in the loading dock with a new, heavy duty rubber ramp.

This is the beneficiary of my Eagle Project. People to People serves almost 14,000 families each year through their food, clothing, school supply programs, trainings and support.
With the slatwall and waterfall hooks, PtoP will be able to display the school supply back packs in a dignified manner for their young clients.

Make a donation
for the purchase of needed materials
Since People to People is a Charitable organization, all donations made to my project are tax-deductible, and we can provide you with a receipt for your donated amount.
I also will be creating a Donors Plaque that will be displayed at People to People, listing the names/families of anyone who donates $25 or more. Levels are Bronze $25-$49, Gold $50-$99 and Silver (Highest level in Scouts!) for $100 and above!
No amount is too small to help us purchase the ramp, paint, slatwall & accessories, and if there is any surplus after the project is completed, it will all go directly to People to People to help support the most vulnerable members of our community through the programs they provide.
Volunteer at one of my project Work Days
I will be organizing several Work Days, on weekends, where we will install the slat wall, the shelving and the loading dock ramp. We will also be painting two walls.
Before we begin, we will need many hands to clear out the sorting room, moving out all the piles of bags of donated clothes.
After construction & painting work, we will need to return all the clothing etc. back to the room.

WORK DAYS:
Saturday, Oct. 26 from11:00am - 2:00 pm
This is my first work day. We will be meeting at People to People in Nanuet.
We will need all hands on deck at the start, to clear out the Sorting Room.
Then, from around 11:40 or so, we will need a few strong folks to help install the slatwall panels. At the same time, we will need some detail oriented folks with steady hands to begin painting the Clothes Closet room walls.
Sunday, Oct. 27 from 11:00am - 2:00 pm
On Sunday, we will continue painting of the Clothes Closet walls, and possibly start on the trim of the Sorting Room walls.
We will need a lot of help around 1:30 pm to move all the clothes etc. back into the Sorting Room and cleaning up the paint supplies.
Please bring work gloves
& dress in old clothes if helping with painting!
Cook or Bake
For those who prefer helping from their kitchen, I will be holding a few fundraising events, plus I need to feed my volunteer crew at my work days, so cookies, snacks, pizza, lasagna... any and all foods will find some happy tummies. Please let me know if you can provide some home cooked goodness!
